The European Union and the United Nations will co-chair the fifth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” on 29 and 30 March 2021. Thursday, 25 march 2021 EDU-SYRIA / EDU-JORDAN Programme handed out 221 laptops to its students from Syrian refugees who are studying for Bachelor’s degree at Zarqa University. Most of the laptops were distributed to students living in refugee camps, where 101 students from Zaatari camps and 26 from Al-Azraq Camp and 17 from Al-Emirati camp received a laptop. Furthermore, the programme also awarded 77 students, who are the top three students in each major by handing them a laptop too. This program focuses on giving entrepreneurs, both Syrian and Jordanian an opportunity to innovate and create, to turn their ideas into a start-up. On Thursday, 25 February 2021 EDU-SYRIA Scholarship Program held an academic meeting with the scholarship students at Zarqa University through the ZOOM virtual communication platform. The meeting was divided into two separate sessions headed by the Scholarship coordinator Dr. Ala’ Khalifeh, and the scholarship officer at Zarqa University, Mr. Ibrahim Al Hariri. EDU-SRYIA has participated in HOPES-LEB Regional Stakeholder Meeting which emphasized the importance of facilitating exchange between alumni networks connected to the EU with focus on educational programs to build relationships and provide market opportunities.

A group of EDU-SYRIA students participated in Hult Prize international at Zarqa University level, and won the second place. The students Fatima al-Rayyes, Rahma al-Masri, Ayat al-Hussein and their Jordanian colleague Malak Murshid formed the team “Passion MARF, which discussed the sustainable nutrition and food security. It is worth noting that these three students were not the only ones among our students who participated in this competition. Three other students participated in the ECO-Plant team consisting of Yazid Al Ismael, Tala Qalaia, and Muhammad Al Qadri. The meeting aims at discussing the project’s progress and opens a discussion venue among the partners.
